I love ticking things off my client’s to-do lists!
Hi, I’m Amanda
Before being a Life Concierge, I was an administrator for a number of quite different organisations — a fast-growing small company, a corporate, a State Government Arts Organisation and Office of the Premier of SA. Most of the time, my job was a newly created position where management relied heavily on my initiative and drive to fully develop the role.
Being a creative thinker, I absolutely loved doing this! But only till the role became routine. I then quickly got bored and started looking for my next challenge. I finally realised I needed to start my own business, where I knew I would never run out of challenges. The question was — what should I do?
My colleagues in the Premier’s Office worked 12-hour days. I’d watch them trying to steal back some time during the day to run their personal errands — on the phone, doing internet banking or racing around the streets of Adelaide with their dry cleaning or items to be repaired.
I could see they found it a constant battle to keep up with those ‘must-do’ personal tasks and at the same time try to successfully stay on top of their work. I could also see they would much rather be spending all that errand time at their job, which they loved.
“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
– Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection.
And so, in 2008 I created Every Day PA. Adelaide’s busy people embraced the concept and over the next few years, my client base grew.
By 2011, my business was going really well and I had employed a couple of wonderful Lifestyle Assistants to help me continue giving my best to my growing list of clients, and to allow me to expand even further.
That’s when the dreaded ‘black dog’ or in my case GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder) hit me and hit me hard. So what did I do? I did what any self-respecting ‘real’ entrepreneur would do — I told myself to be strong, thinking I could just snap out of it. Trying to soldier on however, resulted in me being hospitalised.
I took that time to take stock, to take a good hard look at what I thought life was about and who I was in it. A lot of soul-searching plus wonderful support from family, friends and clients allowed me to look at absolutely everything in my life and be able to find and accept the authentic me. I also discovered ‘My Why’ — the reason and purpose of my life and how my Concierge business can absolutely help me achieve it. Hence, the rebrand and a new focus for the new Amanda.
With me you can be yourself.
It’s understandable that you want to look like you’re always in control, no matter how busy or crazy life gets. We all want to go out there into the world with our game face on, so we get things done and we get respect from others.
With me, my clients trust that they can drop their game face and be ‘real’ without judgement. After all, if everyone out there could perfectly manage everything and did have everything ‘sorted’ I wouldn’t have been able to create this business — to be of real service and to help and support my clients.
My vision, as before, is to create a company that gives back time, peace of mind and freedom to busy professionals in their personal and home lives through my innovative support techniques. I also want to champion my clients and others in their endeavours to give back to the community.
My success in this will lead to my clients being happier in their lives and will also allow me to give back to my local charities, individuals and organisations. I’ve already started this in a small way — I’m currently a member of the State Theatre Education Donor Circle and served for 2 years as Secretary for Australian Women of the Year, SA Chapter, 2014-2015.
As you can see, I thrive on challenge.
So if life is throwing you a few too many plates that you need to keep spinning, please contact me. I look forward to seeing what challenges I can help conquer for you.
